The Book Tower at Red Brick Market
You can also find us in Digbeth's Red Brick Market along with a whole host of other local traders. Our stall is a chaotic colour wheel tucked in away - perfect for those who love to browse for lost and forgotten treasures.
Our Founders
The Book Tower is a family run, independent business based in the book-hungry Brummie suburb of Kings Heath. Founded by Jane and Maisie, the Book Tower was planned to be an enterprise which allowed Jane to happily spend her declining years reading her beloved Penguin paperbacks and earning money by doing very little. Jane’s wide literary knowledge allowed her to source a fascinating collection of books from all sorts of places, however when working out what to do next she noticed there was a substantial flaw in the plan she drafted in daughter Maisie to handle the heavy lifting.
Both Maisie and Jane are often overshadowed by the presence of shop dog Mick whose pupularity has resulted in his very own range of Mick Merch.
Commitment to Accessibility
Ensuring our shop can open its doors to everyone is important to us.
We have one step up into our shop but thanks to the Access for All Kings Heath project, we now have a ramp so wheelchair users can access the front section of the shop.
There are two steps into the rear of the shop but we are able to show our books to people who are unable to physically enter the space to browse by using a tablet and camera.
We can turn off any background noise that may be difficult for customers.
We can offer out of hours shopping for customers who need to have sole access to the shop in order to feel comfortable so please contact us to arrange this.
